Handbook - Electronics and Communication Engineering


The laboratories in department of Electronics and Communication Engineering are intended to give practical experience to the students. Laboratories are useful for students to implement the theory in practical aspects and helps student to apply their knowledge of theory for various courses of their course outcomes.

ECE is equipped with highly developed Air Conditioned hardware and software labs, that have superior quality and sophisticated equipment and trainer kits that allows students to design, implement and think beyond horizon.

ECE finds its application both in hardware and software these days. Most of the experiments are conducted using both hardware and software tools. All the laboratories are equipped with variety of software tools which are necessity of today’s industrial requirement.

The department has its own computer laboratory, possessing computers of Intel Pentium i3/i5 processors, connected over campus LAN with high speed Internet connection.

    Electronics Devices and Circuits Laboratory

    This lab mainly focuses on semiconductor device physics. The students get familiarized with the analysis and design of circuits by using semiconductor devices like diodes, transistors, FETs, SCRs, and UJTs.

    Analog and Pulse Circuits Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to measure the characteristics of various electronic components. In this lab, the students are emphasized to design and analyse the electronic circuits as well as pulse digital circuits and are supposed to co-relate it theoretically. The students learn to obtain different parameters in the circuits.

    Analog and Digital Communication Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to design and simulation of analog and digital communications with the applications using MATLAB software. This laboratory provides a platform to the students to understand the basics of analog and digital communication systems, modulation techniques, data transmission, multiplexing.

    Integrated Circuits Applications Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware required to design and analysis of integrated circuits with their applications. This lab aims at teaching the students about Linear Integrated Circuit design using 555 Timer, phase-locked loop and implementing those circuits in real time applications.

    Antennas and Microwave Engineering Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to design and simulation of antennas and high frequency applications using Ansys HFSS software. The laboratory is designed to get the exposure to various microwave components, microwave benches in this lab. This laboratory helps the students understand the basics of Microwave engineering and gives a detailed description of the working principle of microwave components.

    Microprocessors and Microcontrollers Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to learn the assembly language programming systematically for the different applications of microprocessor and microcontrollers by using hardware and software environment. The microprocessor lab helps the students to gain a better understanding of 8086 microprocessors. Students are able to execute basic assembly language programs as well as interface ADC, DAC and stepper motor through various interface cards available in the lab.

    Embedded Systems Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to develop efficient tools, techniques and methodologies for developing energy-efficient and secure real time embedded applications using keil software. The primary objective of embedded system lab is to provide students thorough knowledge of real-time operating systems, real-time debugging, and embedded systems.

    Facilities: 8051 Based Development Boards (15No’s), ARM7 Based Development Boards (6No’s), ARM9 based Development Boards (2No’s), ARM Cortex M3 (15No’s), Joint Test Action Group connectors (15No’s), Programmable System-on-Chip(PSOC) Development Board (5No’s), 8051 Real Time Operating System Development Board (15No’s).     Digital System Design Laboratory

    This course is intended to enhance the learning experience to gain experience in using the basics for design of high-speed ALUs, control and timing circuitry, and asynchronous systems; hands-on system prototyping with HDLs for FPGA devices; current hardware topics related to computer design using modern design methodologies and CAD tools; and principles of system design for testability.

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to design and development of design and simulation of the digital circuits using VHDL software.

    Facilities: ZYNQ-ZED development boards (12), ZYBO development boards (30), Vivado Xilinx software (50 users), Vostro3470 desktop intel core i3-8100 processor / 4GB DDR4-1TB SATA HDD / keyboard and mouse / NO ODD / 22” Monitor (24).

    Digital Signal Processing Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required is used to design audio signal, speech processing, voice recognition, and analysis of analog and digital signals by using MATLAB software. The Digital Signal Processing Lab is based on MATLAB tools which are used to evaluate the effectiveness of Fast Fourier Transform algorithms in Discrete Fourier Transform implementation. We can also do the analysis of digital filter design of Finite Impulse Response and Infinite Impulse Response filters.

    VLSI Design Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to design and development of design and simulation of the integrated circuits using cadence software. To develop familiarity and confidence with designing, building and testing digital circuits, including the use of CAD tools.Behavioral, register- transfer, logic, and physical-level structured VLSI design using CAD tools and hardware description languages

    Facilities: Vostro BTX 3470 desktop Intel core-i3-8100 processor / 4GB DDR4-500GB SATA HDD / keyboard and mouse / NO ODD / 22” Monitor (24 numbers). Cadence standard bundle Analog and Digital FE & BE (30 Users).

    Sensors, Instrumentation and Cyber Physical System Engineering Research Laboratory

    This laboratory provides all hardware and software required to learn system-design platform and development environment for a visual programming language using LabView. This Lab has provided a platform for students and research associates to implement research based projects under the guidance of faculty members. The facility has been utilized by B.Tech and M.Tech students extensively for their project and research work. The outcome of the project has resulted in publications in various journals and conference proceedings (both at national and international level). The centre has provided a learning platform for both students and faculty.



    LabVIEW academy 

    LabVIEW is an integrated development environment designed specifically for engineers and scientists building measurement and control systems. With a native graphical programming language, built-in IP for data analysis and signal processing, and an open architecture that enables integration of any hardware device and any software approach, LabVIEW is the software you need to build the optimal solution that can meet your custom requirements and solve the challenges at hand.

    Facilities: NImyDAQ kits (11 No’s), NImyRIOkits(11No’s), NI USRP2901 with accessories and cables.

    30 number of INTEL Core I3 processor-6100 CPU@ 3.75GHZ, 4GB RAM, 500 GB HDD systems with 18" color monitor, and National Instrument LabVIEW licensed software.



    PCB Design Centre

    This lab is designed to train the students on Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and incorporated in the curriculum with the intent of giving the students hands-on experience of designing and testing PCB. Apart from this, students come to know about fabrication techniques.

    Facilities:  MITS Eleven Lab Antenna/PCB proto typing Machine,Intel Dual Core CPU systems with 18" colour monitor.
