Initiatives for Inclusive Environment

The Institute has always strived to provide an inclusive environment and promote tolerance and social harmony amongst the students and staff members who come from diverse backgrounds. We have students and staff from different socioeconomic, linguistic, regional, communal and cultural backgrounds in our Institute. The Institute has always promoted values of tolerance and harmony amongst them and encourages activities that help to cultivate the feeling of togetherness. We conduct various activities under the auspicious of Departmental Associations, various clubs, Parent Teacher Meetings, Institute Alumni Association, NCC, NSS, EBSB club etc. with an intention of nurturing the culture of inclusiveness among various stakeholders of the Institute. These platforms bring about a spirit of team building, imitativeness and leadership among the students. A brief illustration of some of the important activities conducted in the Institute with a view to spread the message of integrity and inclusiveness are discussed below:

Equal Opportunity Facilities Cell

Institute constituted Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) as per UGC guidelines. The cell set up to aid and advise to the students belonging to marginalized sections including the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Communities, Minority Communities, Persons with Differently Abled, etc. studying various programs at the institute. It was formed in order to create a fair, unbiased and equitable study environment for the students.

Aims and Objectives:

To oversee the effective implementation of policies and programs for disadvantaged groups, to provide guidance and counselling with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters and to enhance the diversity within the campus.

Functions of the Cell:

  • Ensure equity and equal opportunity to the community at large in the college and bring about social inclusion.
  • Enhance the diversity among the students, teaching and non-teaching staff population and at the same time eliminate the perception of discrimination.
  • Help individuals or a group of students belonging to the disadvantaged section of society to contain the problems related to discrimination.
  • Prepare barrier free formalities/procedures for admission/ registration of students belonging to the disadvantaged groups of society.
  • Sensitize the college on the problems of SC/ST and other disadvantaged groups.
