when it brings people together."Information Technology is a field of science that comprises all aspects of computing, including data storage, sharing of information and communications. It is a rapidly growing area that is radically changing the world by making it possible to do new way business, providing entertainment and creating art. Both software and hardware sectors are parts of Information Technology. Information Technology is fast becoming our way of life and one cannot imagine life without IT in today’s world.

The department of Information Technology (IT) was established in the year 2001 offering B.Tech program in Information Technology with an intake of 120. As the demand for Information Technology talent continues to increase and this trend will only grow over time, the department of IT started offering B.Tech program in Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) from the year 2020 with an intake of 180.

Currently, the department of Information Technology is offering the following B.Tech programs:

• B.Tech: Information Technology (IT)
• B.Tech: Computer Science & Information Technology (CSIT)

B.Tech program in Information Technology was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) successively five consecutive terms in 2008, 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2023. The period of validity for B.Tech program in Information Technology in Tier - I is till 30 June, 2026.

The department of IT aims at imparting quality education in the realm of IT, software engineering and domain specific application with an objective to enhance and expand the knowledge and skill sets of target students, so that they can contribute in the betterment of Society at large.

Our B.Tech program in IT / CSIT focuses on high-demanding areas, including:

The students acquire knowledge across a wide range of IT applications, along with hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment. The courses offered both, theory and practice will ensure job ready.

This IT / CSIT course includes training in:

• Cisco routing and switching
• IP Secure
• Microsoft Active Directory network management
• Content Management Systems
• Android and IOS app development
• Object-oriented programming

The department has 11 academic laboratories like programming for object oriented programming with Java, programming for problem solving, data structures, database management system, design and analysis of algorithms, programming with objects, operating systems, computer system internals and linux, neural computing and deep learning, web system engineering, artificial intelligence, cloud application development, computer things and security protocols, etc. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide good practical learning and innovative environment for the students and researchers. Has also the centers of excellence in the following niche areas in collaborations with leading industries like Wipro, Virtusa, EPAM, National Instruments, etc.

The students are nurtured with a variety of learning activities including and not restricted to class room teaching, presentations, video lectures, MOOC courses, minor / honours courses, experiential learning (ExL) and online courses by faculty in the institute and across the globe.

Technical Association for Information Technology (TAIT) organizes regular co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the all-round development of students. It organizes seminars, workshops, group discussions, etc. Memberships of Computer Society of India (CSI), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), and Institute of Engineers (IE) student’s chapters give easy access to information on the latest trends and developments in the field of Computer Sciences and Information Technology.

Students are encouraged to take up industry oriented projects, participate in hackathons and coding competitions.
