Full Semester Research Internship - Abroad

Spending a semester abroad will not only enrich your academic experience but will also help prepare you to practice engineering across national boundaries after you graduate.

IARE students can participate in several study abroad programs. In recent years, our students have studied in USA, Australia, Singapore, England, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Italy, Spain, Japan and Taiwan, which are just a few of the countries from which our students can choose.

The International Relations website lists many of the details have already been worked out.

Selecting the Country / Mentor that Fits Your Academic Goals

Decide which semester you will study abroad. Engineering students often find that their seventh or eighth semester work best, with the latter choice being the most common.
• Apply for approval to study abroad through the International Relations website. Applications are usually due to the Dean / Officer of Study Abroad Advising office by the beginning of March for study abroad in the subsequent odd semester (July-December) and by mid-September for the subsequent (January-June) semester. Keep in mind that for approved programs, you’ll also need to apply to the program provider or host university, whose deadline may differ from IARE’s application deadlines. Plan to start researching program options at least a year in advance.
• Plan your academic advisor and research laboratory / research centre at the host institute as per their requirements.
• After you have returned from your research internship abroad program, file, or update, your completion status report to Dean of International Relations.
• After you return you will also need to file the Research Internship Abroad Registration Form to notify Controller of Examinations (COE) of the successful completion of the internship.
