Institute of Aeronautical Engineering has been recognised under Section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, dated 23^rd January 2014 by University Grants Commission, New Delhi.  Now the college is under the head "Non-Governament Self Financed" Colleges teaching upto Master's degree to make it eligble to receive central assistance. Autonomous Status :

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has awarded Autonomous Status under UGC autonomous colleges scheme, to Institute of Aeronautical Engineering, Hyderabad for a period of five years starting from Academic year 2022 - 2023 to 2026 - 2027. All the 9 UG Courses – Aeronautical, CSE, CSE (AI&ML), CSE (Data Science), IT, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, and Civil and 7 PG Courses - M.Tech (CSE), M.Tech (EPS), M.Tech (Embedded Systems), M.Tech (Aerospace Engineering), M.Tech (CAD/CAM), M.Tech (Structural Engineering) and MBA are under Autonomous Status.
